Phenolic paint over dose 1

1100 microns of phenolic paint is applied on the pressure vessel. Is there a problem that this paint stays at this thickness or should it be sandblasted?

Recommended for you

1. Consult the MSDS of the paint manufacturer for the maximum wet and dry dft.
2. Internal lining system required what thickness has specified?
3. Do you have process internals that you have to fix inside the vessel?
4. Care inspection shall be considered in the nozzles connection especially the small ones.

But the first point will solve your worries.

2. Activity 1 will most likely inform you that 400 - 500 microns is the absolute maximum which is probably why you are asking the question.
3. If you did demand a coating material qualification test report, typically, the tested DFT should not exceed the nominal DFT by more than 25% - what DFT was the coating system tested at?
4. Check the qualifications of the paint application personnel, and the supervision, for the recoat work. Better still, get them to undertake a performance test.
