Any idea what pickling agent we should use for inconel 625 weld overlays?

Why don't you look in the Special Metals data sheet.
I would start with the solution at room temp though since the over lay will not be nearly as corrosion resistant as the bulk alloy.
If it were me I would start with 25% Nitric and 5% HF.

Often pickling is not mandated for 625 corrosion resistant. If required see Ed!

If you pickle 625 weld overlays, which I have seldom seen, be very careful of the time exposure. Weldments are cast structures and as such will behave different in comparison to wrought material.

Thanks guys for your comments. Actually its a requirement of our client specifications however they have not mentioned the pickling agent. I have also a bit surprised and never heard of pickling for inconel. Hno3 and hf id normally used for stainless steels

You should go back and discuss with your client, they may be misinformed.
