What parts fail the most on pile drilling rigs? (Ex. Soilmec, Bauer BG30...)
What parts are the most difficult to repair with local resources (ie without ordering a complete new part)

I assume in third countries diesel and hydraulics problems are easily repaired.
What about tracks?
Are kelly bar vulnerable to wear and tear?
etc.

Tracks are a weak link for any crawler. If there is a choice of machines, ask if any use track designs based on bulldozers. Bulldozer based tracks are typically better. On the job, try not to walk the machine any further than absolutely necessary. If the machine has to be moved, say, one kilometer... move it by truck if practical.

It's been a long time since I was in the midst of heavy equipment use/maintenance/repair. Back then, it was best to select equipment powered by General Motors diesels. Their engine designs were simpler than other brands, parts were easier to obtain, less costly and repairs were easier. The diesel engine brand to avoid was Cummins.

This isn't drilling rig related but for driven piling rigs I noticed that anything electronic / sensor based was the most difficult to repair on remote field jobs. Easy things to repair are anything that's similar to what the crew plays with in their garage or on the farm. Eg. a diesel piling hammer is basically just a gigantic two stroke diesel engine.

Kelly bars will eventually fracture or shear off. Sometimes a bit of fill welding will keep the kelly bar going a little bit longer but usually not for long.
