Halo everyone. I'm new to this forum so if my question has been posted before then I sincerely apologise.

I wonder if anyone can help - I have been looking for publications on the design of reinforcement in piles but have not been able to find any. I wonder if anyone can recommend any good sources that are available?

I will be very grateful if anyone can give me some advise.

Angus

There are great many books on deep foundations and pile foundations. Some may be more adequate to your intent than others so make repeated searches with your browser refining the search words. Try also "pile" in google books.

It depends upon whether the "pile" is driven or drilled.

Driven pile reinforcement generally refers to the prestressing strands in concrete piles (or reinforced piles, not often used in the US). There are generally standard arrangements for certain sizes and shapes of piles; you need to consult the ACI influence diagrams for these.

With drilled shafts, it's a process akin to shallow foundations, and a detailed treatment of the subject can be found at

wooow! Thank you so much ishvaaag and vulcanhammer, for posting the useful links. Your help is much appreciated! So much information there it'll take me the whole weekend to read! I have also been reading the British Standards (as I'm from the UK) BS 5400 and 8110, I think now I have a little more ideas as to how to design reinforcement for piles. And by the way I was actually referring to bored piles. Althought I might also have to do some research on the driven piles too in the future! Again many thanks guys!!
