That's not a great way to go for sure.

The french jet that launched an observer a few years ago, but not the pilot even though it was programmed to eject both, made it down to the ground, but the pilot got out of the cockpit very quickly in case it went off.

They are supposed to be very violent actions so you don't even want to try them out.

The only item that I can recall ever personally buying that was likely from Iran were Pistachio nuts which were dyed red. When the Islamic revolution took hold in Iran in 1979 and they took the American hostages, the US banned the importation of most all products from Iran, including Pistachios (at the time, Iran was one of the largest suppliers of Pistachios in the world). Note that the reason why they were dyed red in the first place was because it made them look better and was a sort of marketing ploy, making them easily recognized. But when the decision was made to halt the importation of Iranian Pistachios, the suppliers of American grown Pistachios (most of which come from California) decided to stop dying the shells, again for marketing purposes, only this time the consumers were told that the natural (un-dyed) Pistachios were American grown.

Worse, (though I imagine the badness meter is already jammed so hard against the end stop, the victims can't tell the difference) it will potentially be a case of "base of spine still experiencing plus several g from the continuing thrust of the rocket motor while top of spine is simultaneously experiencing multiple negative g by virtue of contact with the roof.

Best way to work in a Fast Jet cockpit unless you're actually planning to start the engines is to get the plumbers to cart the seats away to their workshop and replace them with wooden stools. Got to be the only sort of furniture ever made where finding a nail sticking out of it makes you feel a little bit safer.

Unless, of course, you wanted the same Constitutional freedoms that his US supporters take for granted. If the US hadn't deposed Mosadegh in favor of the Shah and kept him under rein, Khomeini likely would never have gained sufficient power to inspire the revolution. In the end, it was the unintended consequence of US actions from 68 years ago.

In the end, it was the unintended consequence of US actions from 68 years ago.

I thought that it was a result of Big Oil negotiations running out of control.
The Shah wanted a fair price when the oil contracts were renewed, so Big Oil funded the Shah's opponents.

That might have been the impetus for Mossadegh's deposing by the CIA, but everything after that is fully on the US, since we backed the Shah's attempt to Westernize and secularize Iran.

zeusfaber there was a good piece from a lightning Engineer where they did remove the seats and put a fruit crate seat in.

He was doing engine runs on it and the brakes plus chocks failed. And he had his first and last flight solo in a Lightning. He managed to land it.

Looks like old age is catching up on me he had seats.

That must have been a very errrr exciting incident.

To miss a fuel tracker, go underneath an aircraft landing and then can't stop the plane and needing to take off takes some amount of luck.

He had an ejection seat but was locked in ground mode as you would want when testing an aircraft.

Fascinating story.
