A column is removed from one frame. To support the rafter, the missing column is replaced by a carrier beam spanning between the the columns in the same place in flanking frames.
What type of connection is this? The beam will deflect, whereas the column would not.
We will use a small shim, and bolt lower flange of W beam rafter to upper flange of W shape beam. We put braces in both the X and the Y axis. So, the connection is rigid.
I model these in 2-D software.
Thanks, DD
