Hi :

An Expansion Joint, joining two pieces of Aluminium pipe is wrapped around by Ventglas. The Ventglas is clamped tightly at the ends using a Two Stainless Steel Clamps.

Now I need to determine the friction forces occuring which restricts the axial movement. How do I determine the friction forces. I have the torque value of the clamp.

Thanks,
Kapil ,EWI

when we design pipe rack we assume pipe friction as 30% of operating weight of single pipe
