Pipe or tube development about a line?

Sometime ago I saw a post about how you could generate a pipe or tube of a specified diameter about a line or Pline. Theoretically this could be done with just AutoCAD and no 3rd party package. Any CAD-honcho here that can educate me? …I’m dealing with 2005. THX!

the keywoerd is the "_extrude" command -> path

I have used 3Dtube before at

Works OK. You have to select plines and then just give it the diameter you want to create.
