The structural engineer has a note that all hangers and attachments to joist shall be concentric with the top and bottom cord over 100 pounds must be @ panel points or reinforced. I have two questions.
1st does concentric mean that the threaded rod hanger for sprinkler pipe would need to be installed down thru the bar joist? It is currently installed with a beam clamp to the outside from the top cord. The way I understand the definition of concentrically applied load means the center not on the outside. I never see the installation of pipe being supported with the threaded rod installed into the center of the joist have I been inspecting incorrectly?
2nd. NFPA 13 states Sprinkler piping shall be substantially supported from the building structure, which must support the added load of the water-filled pipe plus a minimum of 250 lb (115 kg) applied at the point of hanging. The structural engineer states applied loads over 100 pds must be over a panel point. I have 1" sprinkler pipe based on the NFPA 13 would 1" sprinkler pipe need to be supported over a panel point since the minimum is 250 pds?
