pipeline lowering precaution 1

Dear Mates ;

during lowering operation , we have risk to pipe jumping from the skid or into ditch/trench ?

what is the precaution to be make ?

3 excavator to be used .

Pipe diametre 14 inch

length 200 m

Yes is the answer.

Good planning and execution.

Usually if you're using excavators you will be using slings around the pipe.

There are many YT videos showing you how to do it well.

The lead excavator normally only lifts vertically or even applies a bit of reverse force to prevent the pipe from rolling into the ditch in an uncontrolled fashion.

A few contractors for plastic pipe etc actually do this as standard.... e.g. click on the laying pipe video(!) Now fast it might be, but controlled and no risk if buckling, well...

But you really need an experienced lowering in foreman who has done this before to show you, not pick it up from the internet or YT videos...
