Piping Cathodic Protection 1

Hello,

I am working in gas refinery. For under ground piping, we use cathodic protection. In gas refineries, There are lot of pipes beside each other and I want to khnow that the short distance between pipes(for example, 5cm) can be affect the cathodic protection?

Google "stray current corrosion" and you will find some the things that need to be considered in situations such as this.

Yes, there can be an effect, that's why the pipes are normally bonded together to equalise the potentials - consult NACE SP0169.
