Hello all,

I am preparing to install a transfer line for a mixed acid. We recieve a mixture of 70% H2SO4, 5% HNO3, balance H2O. Does anybody have a recommendation on material of construction for the pipe?

The temperature will be ambient, pressure will be 30 psig.

Thanks.

Teflon lined piping would be my first choice. The shell can be carbon steel (painting issues, flange up keep), stainless or fiberglass (more expensive upfront, but depending on the size and operating environment may have a better life cycle cost).

What is the material of construction of the transport vessel?
Your supplier should give you a material for handling their product, if not else but goodwill.

Let me clarify that when I said shell I was referring to the pressure containing pipe that the Teflon would line not the shell of a pressure vessel.
