My company operates a small steam/water test loop. We have two locations in our piping system with Blaw Knox vibration dampers. The nameplate indicates Size 8, Type 2A, Patent# 2,215,238. Does anyone have the rating information on these or know how we might obtain it?

That patent was filed for in 1938, and when granted dated 1940. You may be interested in the write-up at (or maybe prettier pictures and format available with similar search at uspto.gov etc). This one was also referenced by several other folks/companies in later patents, that may also be of interest to you.

Yes, they are old. They were installed when the facility was constructed around 1962-63. Unfortunately I am unable to post pictures, but the link rconner provided gives a good look at the spring mechanism. I am hoping to find any technical information that might still exist out there (e.g. spring rate, etc.).
