I am trying to find any ASME code requirement for the maximum hieght for external reinforcement (Cap pass). API specifies a maximum of 1/16", however, I am curious if ASME adresses this situation and if so, how?

I appreciate any help you may provide.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Yes, see ASME B31.1

It it is indeed pipline you are interested in you need to look at ASME B31.4 (Pipeline for liquid hydrocarbons) or ASME B31.8 (Gas transportation).

Unfortunatley I don't have either of these codes.

A question properly stated is a problem half solved.
