Hello, i need to find a material for a piston accumulator (OD=287mm, ID=245mm. Standard materials like 42CrMo4V or St52- bk+s cannot bear the pressure. (operating pressure=350, Test pressure=540Bar. Which material can you suggest, but which is standard and found in the market.

What is failing...?

Is it the hoop stress of the tube or is it the threads on the end caps or the fluid ports?

Have you also considered the fatigue strength of the material?

There is a 4.25Ni,CR,Mo material. Have you looked at that? That has UTS of 1550 MPa, and fatigue strength of 700 MPa.

Could you also consider using a compound cylinder if it is the hoop stresses that are limiting you?
