Pitfalls in using well water for make-up in cooling towers?

I am working on converting multiple cooling towers to well water. Other than the benchmark where storage tanks would be required to provide the necessary volume and notification of the responsible chemical company for change from city water, are there any other concerns I should be focused on?

Water quality suggests itself. I don't know how relevant it may be to your application but some well waters can be quite aggressive. I assume the water quality would be monitored and suitably dosed?

Check your water chemistry against the "enemies" of the metallurgy of whatever it is that uses this cooling tower water.

Since you haven't given enough detail for us to really help you, let me offer an example. If you have 304 SS heat exchangers on this CT water circuit, and you have any manganese in your well water, you are setting yourself up for problems.

That should give you enough 'hints' or 'tips' to give you a good start.

In some places the water qualiy can be so bad that it is illegal to directly dump it into the ground water. So check out the needed water treatment first.

Also check out where you can despose of the removed minerals.
