What is considered to be Pitting Corrosion and what are the main causes/factors that determine it in CS heat exchanger tubes? In turn, what are the answers to these questions for the case of Uniform or General Corrosion?

Thanks!

It's a matter of terminonology and definitions, and what you consider as 'Uniform or General Corrosion'.
Refer to API RP 571 which provides a soudn basis for this. There, youll see pitting is a form corrosion. General or uniform corrosion (of carbon steel) is mentioned under Cooling Water Corrosion (sect 4.3.4).
