Place OLE Object on a Layer

We want to put a OLE Object (bitmap image) on a layer which we can turn on and off, but it appears they can't be assigned to a specific layer.

Is there a way to assign an object to a specific layer?

I am not aware of a way to do this directly. However, if you inserted the bitmap into a DXF or DWG file, then imported *that* file into SolidWorks, you should be able to put it on a layer.
