I need some help finding essential and useful information about the plant's launch; what do I as a design engineer have to do and consider to do this launch, what other aspects or factors do i have to consider in this subject; and the same about the plant shutdown.

Thanks

What kind of plant?

For startup, consider the process connections required for cleaning, inerting, venting, draining, pressurizing and warming the lines. Depending upon the type process, the lines likely require elimination of air and water from the hydrostatic testing, etc. For shutdown consider some of the same issues related to evacuating the process fluids.

BTW, especially consider flare connections that might be required isolation.

In developing startup and shutdown procedures of any process plant, one of the most important resources available to the design engineer are the existing plant operators.

If it is a new plant, then have a meeting with the operators-to-be and get their help.

If the plant was designed by an engineering-construction firm (such as Bechtel, Fluor-Daniels, Lummus, etc.), then they are also an important resource. In fact, they should have developed written startup and shutdown manuals.

If the processes used in the plant are licensed processors, then tht licensors are another important resource.

As a design engineer, are you going to be starting the plant up, or are you looking for information about what aspects of plant startup need to be incorporated in the design?
