Hi! I have experience with steel, FEA, design etc. But now I would like to go into plastics. Can you tell me briefly how you perform design in FEA of plastic material in general? I would assume it is brittle, some limiting allowable stress etc. Is there a buckling also? Fatigue?

I know absolutely nothing about this... But I’m curious to know its applications in structural engineering when fire would simply ruin it?

I believe that similar to steel, plastic has many different grade with varying properties. You need to know your material before learning how to design it. I think they do have own rules/criteria, and using different programs other than general purpose FEM program.
