is it feasible to make plastic extruder barrel and screw made out of grade 7075 aluminium?
what problems would i experience if make plastic extruder barrel and screw made out of grade 7075 aluminium?
would nitriding or andodizing aluminium make it wear resistant for the plastic extruder barrel and screw?
i wanted to use grade 7075 alumimium because is more corrosion resistant lightweight and higher thermal conductivity than steel

It's been quite a few years since I've worked on extruders, but I don't
think aluminum would survive the cleaning process when things go wrong,
like a loss of power.

And Al has a low modulus so it won't be very stiff as well as a very high thermal expansion coef.
It might work as a short term expendable part.

I don't know what kind of temperatures you're operating at, but I'd also be concerned about the strength of 7075 (or any aluminum really) at elevated temps; you'd definitely have to understand the temperature dependent properties of 7075 at your operating temperatures.
