maregesi: Congratulations on working on one of the more contentious issues in classification of fine grained soils. I always hated rolling out those darn threads. A group of colleagues are getting ready to start up an electronic journal for practicing engineers where we will have sections for peer-reviwed papers (papers reviewed by practicing engineers for practicing engineers); technical notes and also geotechnical engineering stories with a point to be made. If you would like to consider this as a forum - and you would be part of the start up, you may contact our group through vulcanhammer's site - - he has a link to contact him. We would be pleased to consider your paper.

maregesi,

Soils testing in the United States relies heavily on ASTM Standard Methods. If your new method offers significant improvement over the conventional "thread" method, then you may wish to propose it as a new Standard Method to the relevant ASTM committee. ASTM offers guidance in how to prepare the written portion of a standard method proposal on their website .

Some universities and/or employers may claim partial or whole ownership of patents developed with the use of their resources. You may want to check into this pror to applying for a patent.
