Dear all
I have a series of plate loads results in the form of graphs with no Ks values or CBR values calculated.
Applied load in (kn/m2)against settlement in mm.

plate is 300mm diameter and 0.071m2 in area.
How do i work out the Ks and CBR values, and then with that information how do i use that to work out the Ultimate bearing capacity of the soil at that point.

Ive been searching for hours cant find info anywhere. Any books or references too would be really helpful.

thanks

Nice reference Ron but I would suggest, too, that ac4u2nv pick up a copy of and read the appropriate sections in
1. Bowle's 5th Edition of Foundation Analysis and Design or
2. Tomlinson's 7th Edition of Foundation Design and Construction books (the later gives the pluses and minuses of the test)

Thanks big H and Ron
I looked in tomlinson, and others, no where does it tell you how to convert between the P.L.T to CBR

thanks

Search SlideRuleEra on the site - he has a web site and in the web site he has two graphs showing relationships like the ones you are asking for. You can find one of the charts in Baker's Highway Engineering Handbook; the other, I have it and actually sent to SRE but forgot the reference offhand. Will try to find them if you have no luck on SRE's website and post them.

The AASHTO Pavement Design Manual has correlations as does Yoder and Witczak
