Hi all, We have a situation where we need to calculate the leading edge "distance" of 2 products moving at the same rpm/speed side by side on the same conveyor. Currently we just use proximity switches to indicate product is present and energize a solenoid valve to raise a gate that is used as an "End Evener" for both products. So currently the gate raises every time product is present. We only need to raise the gate(End Evener) if the distance is greater than approximately 6 inches. We have 2 proximity switches placed across the conveyor 5 feet from the gate, one for each product. So my question - Is it possible to calculate the distance between the 2 products moving at the same speed side by side just using the 2 proximity switches in plc logic so we aren't raising the gate continuously? The Plc is a Siemens 555. Thanks!
