I get an error message when I try to plot. The error message is: Configured plot server is inactive enter alternate plot server or contact system manager. I am able to put in another plot server and it works, but I want to be able to plot without having to enter in another server. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

The ugiipqd process is not running on your workstation for some reason. Was it recently reconfigured by an admin or a new version of UG loaded? The process MUST run as a service that logs into the server with Administrator privileges.

Version of UG and OS information would help on this type of question.

The version of UG is Version 16 and the user is running Windows NT

Check for the ugiipqd process in the Task Manager.
If you have admin privs, goto Control Panel-Serices and be sure the process is logiing into the domain server with an account with admin rights.

I have gone into the control panel under services and made sure the service is running and has admin rights. This problem is only with a worker or two and the other people that use UG are able to plot fine without this error.

Use a custom ugii_env.dat file and point their default plot queue to another node. ;-)

Put your maintenace dollars to work and contac GTAC.

Search in UGanswer.

If I do that, than the computer is going to have to rely on another machine. I can't have that because there could be the chance of the other computer not working for some reason or the person shuts it down at the end of the day. I need the non-working computer to plot on its own.

As a side note, you have asked this question in 2 public forums, the BBS and you indicated that you called GTAC. In rank of getting it solved, GTAC is first, since you are delaing with people who have access to development. The BBS is second, since development does read it. This forum has more exposure than the other one, but you are only hearing from selected users. There is a third UG public forum that you haven't hit, yet. (Yes, I read them all.)

What is the third UG publich forum?

I have also been talking to UG too about this and they are stumped, so I thought I would try forums to see if people in them found a way to fix this problem.

You hit it too, after I posted the above.

"made sure the service is running and has admin rights."

That isn't the same as the service MUST be logging in with the Domain administrator ID and password.

The service is logging into the proper domain and with the administrator ID and password.

Would I be able to compare the non-working computer with a computer that is working correctly? If so, what are some of the things that I should look at.

Is the plotter setting on the computer shared?
If you go to printer properties and check if
it is shared.

Yes the printer is shared. The other users who have UG are able to print to the printer.
