plot / print to scale

Sorry folks, but this simple task has me stumped!

I'm trying to print to scale, easy I hear you all shout!

Everytime I print, (and my print needs to be a 1:1 or a 10:1 accurate print),
the scale is not correct, it seems to be driven from the screen display.

IE:- If I zoom the screen display slightly the print scale changes completely.

I do all the normal stuff to print, such as print > scale > landscape > etc > etc

What on earth am I doing wrong?

If you wish to control scale, you should PLOT instead of PRINTING. Now you can set-up any normal 'printer' to act as a 'plotter', but it does require that you define the proper queues and such, but once done, you can plot ALMOST as quickly as you can print.

I have had a good go at what you suggest but I have no plotter to select to print to,
How do I set this up ?

No, you don't use the File -> Print... command but rather the File -> Plot... command. However, out in the OS, you set up your plotters using Print queue's. Now I don't have it right now, but there is a document that I will post copy of when I get it that goes into details as to how to set up these 'plot' queue's.

OK, here's that document that should help you properly set-up plot queue's. Don't be put off where the title says NX 3 as that was when we made the change over to this new plot scheme and nothing has really changed in that part of the code anyway.

I actually had this same issue, so I'm glad I found the answer.

Is there a way to print to .pdf directly in NX3? I have not been able to find this option anywhere in the printing or plotting menus.

There are 3rd party tools that can be used with the current plot task to create .pdf documents. However, starting with NX 5, .pdf output is built into NX.

Set up a PostScript printer/plotter, then print to file. This will output a .ps file that you can open with Acrobat Distiller if you have it or you can use Ghostscript/Ghostview for free to convert the .ps to .pdf.
