Power Line Systems,the makers of PLS-CADD, offer pretty good technical support, so they would be the best ones to ask. Modeling a mid span tap is not a built in function of PLS-CADD as far as I know, but PLS could probably guide an advanced user as to a way to reasonably model it. Just remember that the answers software gives are only as good as the assumptions a user makes while creating the model. The finite element analysis options PLS-CADD provides are quite powerful, but also quite easy to misapply to real world construction practices.
