Discuss about PLS-CADD.
Please write your comments about this software.
I´m trying to handle this program. It´s a very powerful tool to design overhead transmission line.

It could be very helpful.

Thanks

Did you have a specific question in mind? We have used it to model most of our transmission system based on LiDAR surveys.

What is your purpose of using the software? Like points plotting, Sag calculations, Tower Design, Vegetation Management etc. If this known then we can put more words here.

I have some questions about this software. One of them is based on the function for Automatic Spotting.
Method 1- Basic Allowable Spans Method. You have to define a list of structures, weather cases, conductor. The weight span and the wind span should be defined for each structure, but this values are related to weather conditions and the conductor. If you modify this values, the weight span and wind span are not correct.
Is there any way to calculate this automatically??
If you have defined a range of structures (Method 1), you should update its values for differents cable conditions and weather cases. Is that correct???

Thanks

Please take a look at the note at
"...The initial spotting of a line is the only time we see a need to use allowable wind & weight spans. However, even then we recommend the use of the more sophisticated interaction diagrams methods...."

If you do want to use method 1 and you have the poles modeled in POLE or TOWER, open the General -General Data dialog box and they can create Method 1 or Method 2 Files for PLS-CADD. They can even do it with the batch modify feature.

The power of PLS-CADD is that you create structure models in PLS-POLE & PLS-TOWER, then use one of the more advanced criteria methods.
