HI,

when asked for a part drawing, our customer mailed us ".plt file" (attached image).
Which software do i require to open the .plt file?

Thanks,

Hi,

a *.plt file is a HPGL file created with a HP-driver.

There are a lot of progams, which can open, plot or import these files. Search for a viewer in the www.
In the past I had use Only as a trial version for free.

Ploting a *.plt file:

My tip for the future: Ask for a *.pdf file. Plt is dead... ;-)

A .PLT file can be sent directly to the plotter it was created for. There's an old DOS command for this:

'Copy "Filename.plt" > LPT1'

Click on Start | Run | type "Command" | click Okay

Then you need to migrate to the folder containing the .PLT file, or include the full path in "Filename".

Now, if your plotter is connected to the network or some other port, I'm not sure how you'd get the file to the plotter.
