I have come across a 6.35/11kV PLYSWS cable and would like to know what the PLYSWS stands for please. Cable is around 30 years old. Have not come across this before.

Thanks.

Wow, that's a big thanks for that genhead. Could I push my luck a bit further and ask if you perhaps know where I can get info on the current carrying capability and impedances for a 3C 25mm2 Cu PLYSWS cable? As an approximation I am currently using a 25mm2 PILC cable with Z1 = 0.856 + j0.105 and Z0 = 1.3609 + j0.2672 ohms/km.

Thanks.

Sorry Veritas,

I don't know any technical details about the cable. I just remembered it from some old cable jointing instructions that I have from Australia. The drawing for the PLYSWS cable is from 1983 and was marked as obsolete back then.
Maybe Olex cables in Australia could help - they were around back then and still are now.
