plywood on light gauge steel 1

Does anyone know of any good resources which address the various values (lbs/ft.) for shearwalls constructed of plywood on light gauge metal framing. I have some information from APA (American Plywood Assoc.) and some information from AISI. But the information is sketchy at best and does not cover all the possibilities.

From past, painful experience....
Be careful to investigate how the plywood will be attached to the metal studs. We built a partition wall with 1/2" plywood on each side of metal studs. The screws kept stripping out of the metal before the plywood would draw tight to the studs, resulting in a "wavy" wall. Go with the heavier gage studs for sure. It may help to talk to your sub and let him try a sample.

The 2000 IBC Chapter 2211 now publishes values for various sheathing on metal studs.

16 ga.studs (minimum) to prevent screw from stripping/pulling out of the studs.
