Hi All,
I am trying to evaluate the difference between Sponge iron and atomized powders. The MPIF Standard 35 for F-0000-10
shows a hardness of 40 HRF and a Fatigue Limit 90% Survival of 46 MPa @ a density of 6.1 g/cc. These numbers are in line with with our measurements for Sponge iron powders. But when an atomized powder of the same chemistry is used the hardness goes down to 17 HRF @ a density of 6.7 g/cc. Based on everything I have read the fatigue properties should improve due to increased density. Would you agree? Also is there any concerns with green state strength with atomized?
