Hello Good people,

I have this new project on my desk. It is a facility that accepts petroleum products from a cargo vessel, stores it in about 4 steel welded tanks, then disburses at a loading station to trucks.

I need some guidance, particularly book referals concerning the following:

The necessity for slop tanks and its requirements for design.

The truck loading arm design.

Foam extinguisher design

And finally, the necessary appurtenances for a PMS storage tank.

Lekan, You've asked a big question and the small answer looks like this,

I'm afraid you'll have to Google "Petroleum Storage, Bulk Plants" to get the big answer.

Condider spelling out the meaning of the acronyns PMS (petroleum measurement systems) and AGO.

API STD 2610 applies to the "Design, Construction, Operation, Maintenance, and Inspection of Terminal & Tank Facilities".

API PUBL 4688 addresses the "Temporary Treatment Options for Petroleum Distribution Terminal Wastewaters".

API RP 1595 covers the "Design, Construction, Operation, Maintenance, and Inspection of Aviation Pre-Airfield Storage Terminals"

Lekan, What I mean is try breaking down your work priority in smaller "Tip" bits, things we can give you tips on, and asking more specific questions, preferably one at a time, and we might be able to actually help you on specific issues. Describing an entire bulk plant design would ... take a few pages and a lot of time.
