PMT - Peak Metal Temperature 1

Hi All,

I have a question to ask everyone. When it comes to Xylan coating, there is this term called Peak Metal Temperature (PMT).

For example, cure temperature 220 - 345C/20-5 min..

How do one interprete 20-5 min?

I need help on this.

I'd want clarification from the manufacturer, but it makes sense if it were to be read like "20 min. at 220C, 5 min. at 345C".

Peak Metal Temperature refers to the temperature of the metal surface itself, rather than the temperature within the oven used for curing. Due to differences in the mass of metal parts being coated, you might have to do some testing to determine the proper oven temps and soak times to obtain the required PMT for each part.

Your example likely means curing no less than 20 minutes at a PMT of 220degC for certain coating properties, or at least 5 minutes at a PMT of 345degC for other coating properties.
