Polarity on Core balance Current Transforner

Hello all,

Does polarity direction matter in core balance current transformer connected to relay? Does it matter if polarity is facing away or towards? If it impacts what would be some applications.

Per my understanding since it measures the current through all three phases it should not matter. Only place it should matter is how is connected to relay to measure as positive or negative (directional). Please do correct me?

If direction doesn't matter, polarity doesn't matter, but if direction factors into the trip determination then you'd better get the polarity exactly correct.
