There is not a place on the site where political discussions are tolerated well. In the Pub, censorship caused many of us to drop out. Dave doesn't like controversy in the Round Table, so that is out.

This forum has 136 members, all RT members. It has a wide spectrum of political leanings, so should attract a variety of views out of sight of the rest of the site.

David Simpson (zdas04) is owner/moderator of the group, and I doubt if he will mind some hearty debate, and I know he doesn't believe in censorship. If anyone objects to what is said, they don't have to participate.

What say y'all?

You just described my whole approach to moderation. In fact if a thread starts offending me, I'll just not open it. This forum is only open to RT Members and unless Dave wants to put a new moderator in, it will stay that way. RT members have exhibited some traits that got them noticed by Dave, but the trait that I've noticed most in my 15 years in the RT is maturity. Please be mature enough to keep the food fights in rooms that can be hosed out.

I'm in, if for no other reason than to provide a bit of 'balance' visa-vie the views of at least a couple RT members who are known to lean in a different 'direction' than I do, but I promise to keep it sane and forthright ;-)

You could have just said "the two guys above", John. I figured you would be in.

I didn't want it to get personal right off the bat...

Another site that I used to frequent had a"rant and rave" forum specifically for that.

It worked well.

Otherwise, just make it clear in the thread title so that those of us who choose to ignore such things can do so easily

Great advice MintJulep. I may ask people who post weak titles to fix them.

Great idea Hokie... and after a couple of hundred posts we can move on to the next part... just like the pedestrian bridge.

You have no idea of how much I believe that... my wife has put up with me for just under 40 years, and, she's still perfect.

My wife and I have known each other since we were in high school and have been married now for 51+ years. So yes, I fully believe that missive, which I first saw on one of those plagus you see when you stop at one of those truck-stop like places along the interstate, in this case I bought it near West, TX.
