I am trying to determine the proper method to determine PV(Pressure Velocity) calculations for chain running in a polymer track (UHMW or Nylatron typically). I know the basic formula PV=P(psi)*V(fpm), and this is simple enough to calculate if you have a constant evenly distributed load. Where my question comes is when I have a product on the chain that has 'feet' that contact the chain on approx. 3'-0" centers, with each foot being about 2" wide. It seams like this is more of an intermitent loading situation as the primary load is concentrated in an area of the track, and is constantly moving along the track? Not sure now to calculate a PV value for this type of intermitent loading application? Any ideas or experience with this???
