Hello

Someone told me that when designing a pool, it must be considered a special load, about 4 ton, saying that it is to consider people jumping into the pool, with water.
Is that true??????

Thank You

Not being a Structural Engineer, I would not presume to tell you how to design a pool wall. I would imagine that several factors have to be considered such as the size and depth of the pool and the resultant water pressure on the walls. I would also imagine that design considerations would be taken for the pool being empty in winter in respect to hydraulic pressures from the ground surrounding the pool. As far as the water displaced by a jumper creating a movement of the water towards the walls being a consideration, I would seriously doubt. The shear volume of water in the pool would self absorb any wake before it hit the walls I would think.
