Porosity and Humidity

I notice that humidity may cause porosity to some extend. This is because it's raining quite heavily these few weeks, and scrap due to porosity has raise in quite more about 10%.

Is there a study or even a genaral relationship between porosity and humidity? Pls do tell me if there are any books or sites about the latter.

Your observation is correct that on a wet and rainy day castings are prone to porosity defects. I do not have any literature reference quantifying RH with porosity.

But a number of good foundries are working in rain infested areas ,producing good valve body castings.
This is possible by adopting good foundry practices.
