Porous Ceramic materials..

We are in need of a porous material, ceramic or phenolic, which will leach water without dripping. The challenges we are facing are, the materials must be very durable for field applications and must glue into a plastic holder using a commercially available adhesive. We prefer to pour and fire our own materials if possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you talking about a ceramic like that used in evaporative water coolers?

Is this for potable water?

What is the plastic?

If this is the case contact one of the larger Ceramics Supply Houses and ask for a slip that will be porous when fired unglazed. They are numerous names for such slip, terracotta, red slip, or certain stoneware slips.

Again if this is the case you may have to glaze the bottom of the ceramic to prevent condensate from forming.
