Is it Possible to Replace SEW BMP3.1 Brake rectifier with BG 1.5 rectifier. If possible what will be the connections?

The BMP is a half-wave rectifier with electronic switching, able to hold 2.8 A at 230-575 V AC. The BG is a half-wave rectifier with electronic switching, able to hold 1.5 A at 150-500 Vac. Whether the two are interchangeable depends on the holding current and applied voltage (input and output) required.

Since both devices are commercially available - why the change?

it is likely that the selection of the brake rectifier must be matched to the brake coil. Not respecting factory selection guidance creates a risk of mis-operation.

When using special brake control systems from SEW‑EURODRIVE with acceleration function, the brake control ensures that only the accelerator coil is switched on first, followed by the holding coil (entire coil). The powerful impulse magnetization (high acceleration current) of the accelerator coil results in a very short response time, particularly in large brakes, without reaching the saturation limit. The brake lining carrier moves clear very swiftly and the motor starts up with hardly any braking losses.
