Possible to export NX Arrangements to JT?

Hi

Is it possible to include the assembly arrangement information into the JT file? This might have been possible with I-Deas Configurations (atleast the old timers claim so).

As the situation is right now we export one monolithic JT file per arrangement, which is very wasteful when it comes to disk space as the only information that changes is the component positions and not the underlying geometry.

Addendum, I am aware that it is possible to specify which nx arrangement to load when using teamcenter visualization connected to teamcenter, I am looking for the same functionality for native os files.

Okay further digging reveled that i-deas can exported a .vfm file with the .jt file, thus capturing each configurations component positions as a motion keyframes. Thought this does not capture supression states it is still very useful information.

Is there a way to export .vfm files from nx that are driven by expression and or arrangements? a Quick check of assembly sequencing and adv motion simulation show no options for .vfm export.

Needed a solved motion for the vfm & jt file export to be ungrayed.

I wonder if I can capture arrangement states in motion simulation or if i need to duplicate the end positions by defining link, joints, and drivers.

On the teamcenter side I am wondering if the arrangement is more driven by the structure manager than the actual JT file? Just a thought on this.

Yes, to display an arrangement in teamcenter visualization via rich client

1 send the assembly to structure manager
2 choose the arrangement you want to view
3 select the assembly node and choose open with teamcenter visualization

So my guess is that structure manager sends a plmxml file containing all the transforms and component information to teamcenter visualization. Thus it might be possible to export an plmxml file with the corresponding component jt files to disk, and open each arrangement via the plmxml file in jt2go/tc viz.
