Kryton Krystol is surface applied, and basically fills up the pore space in the concrete with a crystalline structure. I haven't tried using it in practice, but my understanding is the movement and crack width tolerance is low. Until convinced otherwise, I keep that stuff in the too-good-to-be-true category.
There are tons of membranes available, with several variations catering to specific design scenarios. I've had good luck with Cetco and Sika products, but always consult with one of their reps to make sure I'm spec'ing out the right product for the job. There are spray-on membranes/liners as well. Just a lot of possibilities and variations out there, with no real one-size-fits all product.
