Potable water - buried service

Hi,
I am wondering what standards HDPE DR11 pipe used for buried water service has to meet. I have heard from people at my office it is an AWWA standard, but no one is really sure which one. I am relatively new to the piping world so I am a little lost. Any help is appreciated.
