I have been looking into specifying a coating system currently trademarked as LIQ Fusion 7000FBE. It states it is far superior to glass lined systems and field applied coating system like Hydroflon as provided by Tnemec. Does anyone have insight to the durability and performance of this coating system? How it's field applied if there is a crack or part needing touch up?

FBE is having superior resistance against corrosion, erosion and also many kinds of chemicals.

For what service are you going to do the lining of vessel/tank?

FBE coatings are usually flawless while internally lined since there are very less chances to get it damaged internally. Still, if you have such a concern, definitely there are compatible 2 pack epoxy coatings which can be mixed in small quantities and used for repairs. I am sure that the Product Manufacturer is definitely having the repair system with them.

FBE coating and in general any type of epoxy based coating are considered fit for 10-12 years at max. Some clients may assume a higher design life based on their experience. They may or may not have issues which should be verified with inspection.

Different life may be expected for piping and tanks since piping has flowing fluid which would have issues incase of erosive service else an assumption based on experience is made for design life. For tanks the fluid is kind of stagnant so not much damage is expected to the coating but still should be verified by periodic inspection.

FBE coating are usually flawless as CoCoE highlighted and chances of holidays are minimal. Also there are testing carried out to check for damage to coatings.

Take a look at the title of the thread and then advise the OP that they will need appropriate potable water certification for the selected coating system and any repair materials. The brochure for the suggested coating does not indicate potable water certification.

An indication of durability can only be gained by an assessment of appropriate qualification test results, review of in service performance history under similar conditions, and trust in the applicator's experience and quality control.
