Hello everyone,
I have an existing 20 foot high, 2 foot thick interior CMU wall, and I need to construct a 2' x 2' cast-in-place reinforced concrete column directly against the end of the wall. The loads are very small on both the wall and the future column.
Prior to placing the concrete, I am considering placing a layer of carbon fiber fabric (TYFO web in epoxy) on the end of the wall, lapped to the sides for some distance. Why I want to do this is a long story, but here is my question: Does anyone see a problem with pouring concrete against the fiber wrap?
Also, is there a good way to drill and grout some dowels through the fiber wrap and into the CMU?
Thanks much,
graybeach
