Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC) Adsorbtion

I am considering utilizing a powdered activated carbon (PAC) process to reduce organic species concentrations in a product stream. Basically, I believe this could be done batchwise - with sufficient agitation.

However, I have run into some difficulty finding filtration technologies to remove the slurried PAC after the requisite contact time. I was thinking some type of DE filter, possibly, or something else utilizing a pre-coat step. PAC mean particle size is about 100,000 Angstroms.

Any suggestions?

We do this some times to clean up a product stream. We will put the powered carbon in with a product called celite. You need about as much celite as you do carbon to get it to filter. It will work on about any type of filter that is big enough to hold the cake.

It is fairly well established use of activated carbon (since the seventies) although for ease of handling it is granulated.
