Some countries cable testing standards for Mining applications call for a "partial breakage" test of the conductor. A 10% breakage, or deterioration must be measurable. What instrument is or can be used for this test? A resistance measurement won't work, using the Ohm Check Concentric Neutral Tester wont do it, nor will a tdr. A 1000' cable can have 50% of its core broken over ten feet and the small local area change of resistance and continuity wont be discernable in the measurement over the entire length of the cable. Maybe a combination of the Ohm Check and a tdr, the way Concentric Neutrals should be tested, would do it, but probably not. Any help?
