Hi,

I just joined this forum.

I was looking for suggestions on power industry periodicals so I can keep to date on current trends. There is a lot out there, been going through some at university engineering library. I didn't want to miss any good ones so...

What do you read and like? Specifics of what I am looking for as follows. Not necessarily looking for all in one periodical, so let me know even if your suggestion only covers part of what I am looking at..
-large sized industrial power generation
-full scope of industry technology: renewable, combustion turbine, nuke, coal fired ect...

Thanks,
JS

I used to love reading McGraw-Hill's "Power".
... mostly to keep up with the adventures of Marmaduke Surfaceblow.
... which I don't think is included anymore.
Pity.

Power Engineering is another reputable one that I read from time to time.

There are some on line ones, Energy Tech, Generation Weekly to name a couple.

Google up "Power Gen 2010" and look at the exhibitor list and see if you can find some magazines or publications that interest you.

combined cycle journal at < , free online magazine, is an excellent engineering mag for gas fired combined cycle plants.

Chemical engineering is another great magazine that provides a lot of helpful articles and updates on process technology that can be used at power plants.

Of course "Power" and "power engineering" , and also "modern power plants " at < is a good summary of european advances in this field.

While it costs too much to attend conferences, most conferences publish their proceedings and good updates on recent technology can be found from the proceedings. Conferences to review include: Powergen, International water conference, ASME pvpp , ICOPE, ASME electric power conference.

Finally, if you know someone at a large electric utility's headquarters, you may get permission to read their copies of EPRI reports .
