I'm working on a project which requires designing/building a mobile music performance setup. This means we will be using several different audio components, which are normally powered by ACtoDC power supplies, to be run from battery supply. There will be two DCtoDC converters to stabilise the voltage to 12v and 20v...but from there what I'm not sure of is whether we need to put controls in place for current?? and if so what is the best way to do so?
The specs for the power supplies are:
20v 2amp
12v 1amp
12v 400mamp

You don't control the current; the loads will draw what they need from the supply as long as the rated supply current isn't exceeded.

You haven't specified the allowable voltage regulation, which is how much the voltage is allowed to drop when the current reaches rated value, often expressed as a percentage. This can be an important spec for some electronic equipment. Check your load specifications - they may tell you their voltage tolerance - then get power supplies that meet the spec for the most sensitive load that will be powered by each supply.
